Guitarist Ernesto Tamayo returns to Delaware
Cuban exile's first U.S. gig was in Arden

When classical guitarist Ernesto Tamayo comes to Delaware Tuesday, it will be a homecoming of sorts.
Even though Tamayo is a Cuban native, his first U.S. concert after defecting was right here in Arden.
And he remembers it well.
Not only because it was his first booked gig in the States, but for what happened afterward: He actually got paid.
"When I was in Cuba, the government got all the money," he says from his home near Washington, D.C.
Tamayo, 36, has gone on to perform around the world as an in-demand guitarist with international gigs booked well into 2009. He will perform tonight at 8 at the University of Delaware's Gore Recital Hall.
Tamayo is slated to release a pair of albums in the coming months. "Artistico" will be released in December with a second yet-to-be-titled disc due out by early 2008.
